Terms of Service
Welcome to SignSetu. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SignSetu platform, website, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by SignSetu ("we", "us", or "our").
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
SignSetu provides an online platform for electronically signing documents using Aadhaar-based eSign, as authorized under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and governed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), India. Our Service enables users to:
- Upload documents for electronic signing
- Send documents to others for Aadhaar eSign
- Store and manage signed documents
- Purchase credits for eSign transactions
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Aadhaar number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to use the eSign functionality. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Account Registration
When you create an account, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Use of the Service
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You shall not:
- Use the Service to sign fraudulent, illegal, or misleading documents
- Impersonate another person or use another person's Aadhaar credentials
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Use automated means to access the Service without our prior consent
- Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
Document Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content and legality of documents you upload and sign through the Service. We do not review, verify, or endorse the content of any document processed through our platform.
5. Credits and Payments
- The Service operates on a credit-based system. Credits are required to perform eSign transactions.
- Credit purchases are processed through our authorized payment partners.
- Credit pricing is displayed on the platform and may be updated from time to time.
- Credits are non-transferable between accounts unless otherwise specified.

7. Aadhaar eSign
- Aadhaar eSign is facilitated through licensed eSign Application Service Providers (ASPs) and Certifying Authorities (CAs) as per the guidelines issued by the CCA.
- By using the eSign functionality, you authorize us to submit your Aadhaar number to the eSign service provider for OTP-based authentication via UIDAI.
- The digital signature generated is legally valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the associated rules.
- We do not store your Aadhaar number or OTP. Authentication is handled directly by the authorized eSign service provider.
8. Intellectual Property
- The Service, including its design, features, content, and underlying technology, is owned by SignSetu and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
- You retain all ownership rights to the documents you upload. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your documents solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding:
- The reliability, accuracy, or completeness of the Service
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- The legal validity of signatures in jurisdictions outside India
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SignSetu shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Actions of third-party eSign service providers or payment processors
- Any damages arising from unauthorized access to your account
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SignSetu, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
- You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us.
- We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any unused credits may be forfeited.
13. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to our website. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chandigarh, India.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
